Laura Taormina, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Laura earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from the College of Saint Rose. Laura has provided treatment across a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient substance abuse facilities, not-for-profit agencies, and private practice. Laura has experience providing individual, family, and group counseling.
Laura’s work focuses on treating adolescents, adults, and families. Laura has experience working with dual diagnoses, depression, personality and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, stress management, adjustment disorder, change/major life events, PTSD and trauma, end of life and grief, LGBTQ/sexuality, parenting challenges, and many others. Laura tailors treatment to meet the needs of her clients using Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Your therapeutic relationship with Laura begins from day one, building trust from the first time you enter her office. She knows it takes a lot of courage to start counseling (the first session alone is a huge accomplishment) and reminds you to be proud of yourself.
