Emilia Alsen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) who earned her Master’s Degree from the College of St. Rose in Mental Health Counseling. She has worked in various settings including mental health and crime victim assistance programs, and local academic and medical institutions. Emilia is an inclusive provider who prioritizes the therapeutic relationship and approaches her work from a holistic, strengths-based and person- centered perspective.
Emilia has counseled clients through major life transitions, treated depressive and anxiety disorders, addictive disorders, trauma including survivors of sexual and physical abuse, sexual-gender identity concerns, and supported students in higher education. She practices Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. Additional clinical interests include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and the use of creative expression as a tool for healing. Emilia enjoys live music and group drumming, caring for plants, and taking nature walks with her dog Bam Bam.
